Position Overview Baltimore’s Promise is offering one (1) part-time summer internship for students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school. Recent graduates and applicants demonstrating previous experience with data management, data analysis, and data visualization will also be considered. The selected Intern will have the opportunity to learn about data analysis in the summer programming space and build skills and knowledge in data analysis, research, and evaluation. This is a competitive internship, and the selected intern is expected to work 15 – 20 hours per week. The Summer Internship program will run from June 1, 2021 through August 31, 2021.
Duties and Responsibilities During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Baltimore’s Promise team works remotely. Out of an abundance of concern for the safety and wellbeing of its staff, Baltimore’s Promise prohibits staff from participating in in-person convenings or meetings in accordance with current public health guidance and best practices. The Intern must be able to work effectively from a remote setting for the foreseeable future.
As a part of the internship the selected intern will have the opportunity to:
Work with program partners of the Summer Funding Collaborative to collect attendance information.
Provide one-on-one technical assistance to program partners with attendance tracking and submission.
Perform weekly quality checks of attendance data provided by program partners.
Assist in documentation of data, data mapping and data cataloging.
Learn about research and evaluation activities through literature reviews, survey development, data collection, and data analysis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs with a focus on Excel.
Familiarity with Tableau or ArcGIS.
Ability to think creatively when addressing problems.
Above average time management skills.
Compensation The selected intern will be compensated at the rate of $16.60 per hour over 12 weeks. Baltimore’s Promise anticipates 240 hours of work from June 1 – August 31, 2021 (approximately 3 months/12 weeks averaging 20 hours a week). No company benefits are offered for this internship.
Location Remote. This position requires access to a computer with a reliable internet connection.
